“We live in the age of anxiety. We’re becoming a nation of nervous wrecks. The average child today exhibits the same level of anxiety as the average psychiatric patient in the 1950’s.” (Dr. Robert Leahy)
“Anxiety disorders in the U.S. are the number one mental health problem among women and are second only to alcohol and drug abuse among men.” (Dr. Edmund Bourne)
These observations were made prior to COVID disrupting our world as we know it in 2020. This year certainly hasn’t helped the battle with anxiety and easier.
The struggle is real.
Nobody drifts toward peace in the midst of a world where powerful currents of anxiety flow. Dealing with these currents in constructive ways requires His presence and some intentionality on a daily basis in our lives. As Jesus said, “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with….the anxieties of life.” (Luke 21:34)
We hope you’ll join us as Chris Seidman from Farmers Branch, TX leads us through a series called “On Edge: Winning The Battle With Anxiety,” Oct 4th (9:00, 10:30, 6:30), 7th, 14, 21 (6:30). All sessions will be available via live stream. In this series we’ll talk frankly, practically, and biblically about the struggle with anxiety. For some this will be a great opportunity to look up and come to know, yet again, the Prince of Peace in the midst of dealing with the anxieties of life. For others, this will be an opportunity to look around and see they are not alone. There are resources and a community of strength available.
The struggle is real. So is the help.
“For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.’ (Isaiah 41:13)
